Such a cool art form, it’s rare to see real marquetry. The progress pics are sweet, too.
Thanks! Yeah it’s a hell of a medium, I doubt I’ve got the patience for it long-term but I’m glad I dipped my toe in. I always loved marquetry pieces that I see in museums. I can’t aspire to that level, but I think I chose a subject that benefits from a rough, slightly crazed appearance.

I don’t really mind the glue stains on the inside because I’m planning to iron on patches to the inside. I’ve been at this project for a couple months now, and I’m really glad to be done. All this because my refurbished ereader came without a cover.
I did try to cut my pieces so that the wood grain lined up, but material constraints and the occasional hasty misstep limited my success.
