The article does not mention what technology enables supersonic flight without a sonic boom
The trick is to fly high and mount the engines on the top of the aircraft, according to the space agency.
That’s not much of an explanation
To be fair, the NASA article didn’t explain that part much, either. I guess what’s happening is the smooth bottom side of the plane keeps the sonic boom that’s directed at the ground mild, while the more aggressive version of the sonic boom that we’re more accustomed to is directed upwards? I’m inferring here, of course.
