Why would that be app based instead if just using local sensors at the intersection?

This seems like such a roundabout and inflexible way of achieving this, and that’s without going into how it’s blatantly car centric in the face of all the evidence that that school of infrastructure planning is kinda stupid

Why doesn’t everyone just copy the Dutch system of smart lights? It’s fairly clearly the best solution for everyone using the streets
