I was gonna say this just sounds like a standard cash grab remake/remaster, but I think I’m genuinely excited for this after looking at the description. Especially the part where they say there’s gonna be a new scenario set. Maybe my favorite will survive this time!

No spoilers as to who, though, just in case someone who hasn’t played sees this comment.

Are these games like a more violent Phoenix Wright? I really don’t like the illustrations in the game but I might give it a try if the gameplay/story is fun.

@alessandro @k0e3 It follows a lot of the same beats of a Phoenix Wright game, but with a bit more “intensity”. An incident happens, you have some time to collect evidence, and you have a trial, etc. So if you liked those games, it definitely scratches the itch. The illustrations are fine, but the voice acting is generally good, and there’s a lot of it, which helps emphasize the character interactions. The series is particularly notable for having an absolutely bangin’ soundtrack, though.

The intensity is what intrigued me. I’ll definitely check it out. I can pick up the series from any one of the games, right?

Play them in order; Danganronpa 2 follows a different cast, but was written assuming you’re familiar with 1.

Playing in order would help for the next game in the series, in order to avoid some confusion that might occur. Can’t and won’t say more.

Pretty much. There’s lots of adolescent humour and innuendo as well. I enjoyed them. I also liked Master Detective Archives: RAIN CODE+ made by the same studio, though some people thought it wasn’t as good as the Danganronpa games.

They also have the Zero Escape series, which is an awesome visual novel but not like Phoenix Wright, and AI: The Somnium Files which is to the Zero Escape series as Rain Code is to the Danganronpa series.

Thank you! I think I’ll give the series a try. I did love AI: The Somnium Files!

If you’re playing 999 (first entry of the Zero Escape series), you really should play it on the DS or an emulator. The PC port was made extremely rambly to compensate for the lost text on the bottom screen, which heavily diminishes some critical plot points.
