Ooh do you have a recipe for the soup?
I don’t remember where I found the recipe. And over the years I have modified it a little bit. Traditional Jamaican Red Bean Soup does not have Hominy in it. But we love hominy. We use habaneros since we can’t find Scotch bonnets around here. There are more authentic recipes online I’m sure.
Jamaican Red pea soup
4 cups of water 1 can of coconut milk 3 cans of dark red kidney beans drained 1 can of Hominy drained 2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon black pepper (ground) 1 tablespoon of dried thyme 1 regular onions finely chopped 2 green onions finely chopped 2 carrots finely chopped 1 hot pepper finely chopped (ideally scotch bonnet) 1/2 lb potatoes chopped 1/2 lb yam chopped
Flour, water and a pinch of salt to make dough for spinners
Thank you!!! Looks delicious. I hope you enjoy your batch!
