I finished my translation of multiple children’s books in German. The basic language structure is making more sense.
We’ve been talking more with the Doner guys on the street. My ability to understand spoken numbers is getting better. I really need to have people just count in German lots around me so I can keep learning the digit order not as a translation, but as a concept.
I double checked and I have 18 months to get to B1 German (certified). With that in hand, I can get my permanent residency, so there’s a real goal and a timeline now. Los geht’s!
Not quite last week, but been noticing I’m getting Norwegian more and more.
Also the Norwegian police log RSS I linked to a bot here on ActivityPub is helping a bunch, specially on vocabulary.
And from what I can tell, Japanese people love to make text posts with a similar structure as that police log. That is, posts as small and direct as possible that still include the needed context. So I guess I’ll pay more attention to those too.
Any further info/links to that Norwegian police log? Sounds interesting for practicing small bits of the language.

Cool. That’s something I’ve always wanted to do.
Self-confidence in my studies was pretty high this week. I’m on pace to finish this Tobira chapter in a total of 18 days or so (including the workbooks), which is an amazing speed improvement from before. That puts me on pace to finish the book in spring, which feels really great for my N2 plan. There’s still the whole listening comprehension thing I have to figure out, but right now that’s a Future Me problem~
Also pretty excited because I finshed my Anki reviews in one pomodoro today. I’m thinking within a month I’ll start to see some real results from shifting my time from Anki to more reading.
I’ve started Swahili this week, but memrise has some differences that my native-speaking girlfriend has already pointed out.
Pretty slow, because traveling for the past few days… So just doing the daily Anki decks now (for vocab practice). French class for tomorrow is cancelled due to a massive national strike
Still allegedly at “A0” in French despite going at it for three months now, which is annoying… I’m still waiting for the breakthrough. I can do almost all the points on A1 but in a real situation I’d just freeze
