It’s a bit obscure. Have you ever heard of bread?
Going through something right now, but wishing I could stay focused… I keep shrinking back, being reminded that it’s worthless, it takes too long, or it’s too expensive.
Locksport was a good one for me. For the uninitiated, it’s a hobby built around picking, gutting and reassembling locks.
I love locksport! It started for me when I joined an infosec team where everyone else picked, then I went a bit deep/crazy.
Now I’m picking on zoom/teams calls.
Lately? Signals engineering, specifically filter design. Okay, I’m not sure I could rightfully call that a hyper-fixation - it was/is part of a broader project that required a lot of other things too.
Currently I’m trying to make a donut recipe that’s soft/fluffy and tasty AF. Can’t get fresh Krispy Kreme in my rural area, so I gotta make my own, but better!
Handheld gaming consoles, the cheap kind they advertise on click-bait. They’re just wee computers, and there’s some good custom software you can slap on them to make your own lil PSP or DS emulator.
And since they’re quite inexpensive you can dick around with the electronic side without losing much. Some are as low as $30. Definitely recommended!
SBC handhelds are so addictive. Even though they all do the same thing give or take, it’s still so fun to collect them, tinker with them, etc.
