Seems like malignant narcissism and megalomania is a prerequisite for being a mod of large subreddits.
This can happen in smaller communities too, even on Lemmy. Ego-tripping mods are everywhere.
Power, however small, has a large potential for corruption.
I think corrupt people being attracted to positions of power is far more common than a decent person being corrupted.
