To be clear, I’m just giving citations since the parent comment was right. This reads like clickbait and is based on the idea that the microphone was undocumented and hidden in the article which it is not.
The article is framed as ‘china scary’ clickbait when it should be framed as ‘IoT with default passwords and unnecessary software scary’. Clickbait really annoys the shit out of me and puts people in the wrong headspace to think about things critically.

When you combine it with finding aircrack and tcpdump on there, it starts to look pretty sketchy.
