So it is currently 1:30 am and I just cannot sleep. I’m getting a septoplasty tomorrow and that’s all I’ve been thinking about. I’m actually not as nervous now as I was before, but still worried about how everything will go.

Am I overreacting? Has anybody else felt like this the night before surgery?

You are going to do just fine. Trust me. You’ll be in good hands and like i was when i had mine, you’ll be laughing about how worried you were when it’s all over.

    I promise.

And something to consider- over 260,000 septoplasty procedures are done yearly. That’s a LOT! And the chances that something could go wrong are minimal. This is a VERY common procedure. You’re going to be okay.

If it helps, think of a comfort song. Something light. maybe a weird song from the 80’s.

…. and just focus on that until it’s stuck in your head.

Then, when it’s lodged in your head in pretty good, rewrite the lyrics to be about your worry- but make if goofy. It’ll keep you busy and focused inward so that what’s going on outward won’t be so bad.

Let me know how it goes!

Thank you and definitely! I always like to think of something that will distract me from the nerves
