He was appointed a mod, which could happen without the user approval at the time. But he remained on the “mod team” until the sub was shut down a few years later.

The Pimp Daddy award that they gave the active mod of that subreddit though is much more problematic in my opinion because that was a decisive decision.

Useage of lemmy spreads the software and increases donations to the creators regardless of if you federate with them or not.
