    gentoo isn’t environmentally friendly

but jokes aside though, does every single software update is to be compiled locally? If so then it is quite of a power hungry system for a desktop use. I’d understand if gentoo is tailored more on minimal server use that updates much less frequently.

Why would I remove my laptop fans? They’re the ones that keep up their morale and cheer them on.

Many years ago, when the first quad core CPU’s hit the market, I had a friend working in Intel. I got myself a Q6600 quad core for pennies on the euro and promptly installed Gentoo. Oh how I made that CPU work for the pennies I paid for it.

Honestly it was the only thing at the time to tax a quad core. Most games were not well optimised for 4 cores and more or less nothing else was anything but single threaded.
