My big three wins of these from a personal perspective would be:
- Advances in vaccine technology, in particular mRNA tech. I also love how the right-wing weirdos don’t even understand what the tech actually is, nevermind what it does. 😅 It makes their ramblings about it so entertaining to hear.
- An actual image of an actual black hole. Little me decades ago loved Sci-Fi - I mean I kinda still do. And this is Sci-Fi, now. It’s weird to think that in 30 years that near-future actually became the present.
- Feathered dinosaurs, simply because of it making me realize how my entire visual understanding of dinosaurs was entirely the creation of Jurassic Park.

Apparently #1 is the development of the paywall.
Oh sorry, that must be based on location then, it’s not paywalled when I access it. Weird. 😔
Not your fault. It happens all the time.
Homo floresiensis, discovered in 2003, lived on the Indonesian island of Flores some 50,000 years ago; these relatives have been nicknamed “hobbits” for their small stature.
