The headlines structure, the wording, the “conclusion,” the feeling that it’s just providing information in a long winded and exceedingly neutral way rather than asserting an opinion (like a blog) or reporting facts journalistically makes it feel like the author put facts into an LLM, asked it to produce this, but made the graph themselves.
It’s not awful. But at the same time (AI or not) reading it feels kind of fillery, like bland junk food.
This is a ridiculous comparison. They note the reasons that it is ridiculous in the article but continue to make the comparison anyway. To give a little perspective, the US is 72nd in the world for mortality rate. The mortality rate in the US is lower than many other developed countries like the UK, Germany, and Japan. Each of these countries has a higher median age than the US.
Mortality rate is effected by many factors but it appears thst the strongest correlation is likely with median age.
The US certainly has an extremely messed up health care system and problems with obesity and drug use but those don’t appear to be the driving factor behind why the US has a higher mortality rate than Iraq and Afghanistan.
I wish I could downvote your downvoter. Your analysis is spot on and necessary to keep clickbait at bay, but some people just can’t handle nuance.
