From the The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission:

A screenshot of a post by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission viewed through the Sitter frontend Nitter. It reads: I have spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and our Ambassador in Caracas. The EU is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela.
The EU has repeatedly stated that Mr Maduro lacks legitimacy and has defended a peaceful transition. Under all circumstances, the principles of international law and the UN Charter must be respected. We call for restraint.
The safety of EU citizens in the country is our top priority.**

The Republikkkans are Anti-EU because the EU is, in their eyes, the greatest threat to their hegemonic power in the western empire as the three imperial cores exploit the global south. They’ve been pushing shit like this all year. That said, it’s a little sensationalist as the EU mostly stands aside and lets corporations fuck around in the global south so long as EU citizens themselves aren’t interfered with, up to and including that when the US kidnapped a foreign leader in the global south the EU took the official position of “It’s got nothing to do with us”

Ultimately, I think any coagulation of human power that is not held accountable by the people is ultimately a problem. The EU is an economic alliance first and foremost, to allow member states to not be bullied by the great imperial powers of our era. The problem is those imperial powers and the lack of agency and autonomy possessed by the global south. I’m not sure dissolving the EU will help anyone but America and Russia. Dissolving America, Russia, and China on the other hand? Now we’re going somewhere
