Obligatory reminder that the USA has been doing often genocidal colonialism and imperialism since the very beginning and that it was a huge inspiration for fascist Germany.

E.g. Manifest Destiny, which shaped Generalplan Ost, the racial discrimination and segregation laws.

Also US capitalists like Henry Ford, who got the highest award possible for foreigners by Hitler himself, funded German industry and their war machine…

People always bring up appeasement, but it is important to mention that documents were later released that paint a more nuanced picture.

The heads of Britain’s armed forces consistently warned Chamberlain that Britain was too weak to fight, which is one significant reason he sought to appease Hitler in Munich. For example, the RAF was only beginning to receive the more modern Hurricanes and Spitfires which would help it gain air supremacy after the Battle of Britain. The crucial radar network Britain was building, was also only ready in 1939. The Royal Navy was also largely unprepared, many ships lack anti-aircraft defenses. The army also didn’t have enough tanks.

Also, appeasement was very popular at the time. The British public needed time to be convinced that war was inevitable. Appeasement allowed Chamberlain to convince the war weary British public that he had tried his best to avoid war.

Let’s also not forget the British entered the war in 1939. The US and USSR only entered in 1941 and only after being attacked.

And the Munich agreement wasn’t like the Molotov-Ribbentrop agreement, which resulted in Germany gaining massive amounts of crucial raw minerals and food. Resources the nazis would go on to use in their invasion of the Soviet Union. I know mentioning that won’t make me popular with some. But that was really fucking stupid.
