Oh no! Anyway…the DOGE data breach exposed a helluva lot more than that.
Explains the seemingly random PW reset request email I received the other day.
Use a hardware security token for 2FA and sleep easy at night.

points to head can’t have your data breached if you never used Instagram in the first place
Hate to break it to you, but Facebook (ahem, sorry Meta) loves collecting your info even if you never use their services. So your info might be in this breach, even if you don’t have a username/password.
I remember trying to set up an Instagram account ages ago and not being able to do it because the app didn’t work on Android. Gave up after that.
Can’t imagine that was after facebook took over
If you haven’t already, it’s always a good idea to turn on two-factor authentication and change your password. Even better, you can review what devices are logged into your Instagram account in Meta’s Accounts Center.
That is not the most obvious safety advice here engadget…
lol… it sucks to suck.
Oh is that what it was 😄
There’s an account that I haven’t used in years, which gets a “Are you trying to log in?” email every few months.
I got 6 emails at once the other day, figured it was the same junk
I was wondering about that, because I got a several over the course of a few days. I finally limited it to prohibit any lost password requests from unknown devices just to get it to stfu. I don’t even use IG anymore, anyway.
My SO just got locked out of her account. That have to verify their age to unlock it & nobody has gotten back to them. They are locked out of ALL of meta.
Fuck meta for that Nazi shit. It’s time to leave Meta’s crap
I receive password resets from nearly every app and service at this point. 🙃
You should really start using an email proxy like simple login on anonaddy. I haven’t gotten a password reset email in years, and when I do I just change the email and password of the account, then burn that alias.
I’m not worried about password resets. They have my email but not my password. I use a password manager, and keep my email account locked up tight. As long as they can’t get in my email, they can’t change my password.
Yeah I was also wondering why I was getting password reset emails.
Interesting. I deleted my account fully about 2 years ago at this point. I wonder if they still had enough of my data around to be in the breach
