I wonder what the situation is with laptops. HDMI seems to be the standard and DP an additional thing that’s around sometimes, often through another port.
Do projectors commonly have DP or are they more often HDMI? I think TVs, screens and projectors having HDMI is the reason laptops have HDMI over DP.
There are projectors with DisplayPort, but HDMI and VGA are more common. Laptops usually use the USB-C DP alt mode to output DisplayPort signals. HDMI requires a separate port. USB-C can output HDMI, but very few devices support it and it will never be updated past HDMI 1.4.
