    Does anyone have any recommendations for this type of device but without Amazon or Google? Or Apple for that matter.

      If you have Home Assistant (you probably should if you want a smart home). You should go with Nabu Voice. Just set up Piper and Whisper (way less work than I expected) and it will run everything completely locally
