In the Isanti County woods, austere cabins at the Pacem in Terris center offer visitors silence, solitude and simplicity. Some people have profound spiritual experiences, some struggle with the silence while others simply crash and sleep for hours.

If i didn’t already have access to an isolated cabin, for this exact type of vacation. I think i could get over all the religuous iconography in order to access this kind of silence and solitude only an hour outside a major metro area. “Don’t talk to me” is an actual rule instead of me just being weird and rude.

    yeah the giant looming cross would be a problem. but being a athiest who was raised catholic, i can look at it as tacky decoration. the kansas city place sounds nice. hard to find something like this for people who arnt comfortable just grabbing a tent and wondering into a state park.
