Nah, he’s not that kind of dictator. He doesn’t need to feel like he’s in the military - he needs to feel like he’s above them, on top of them as it were. The big military parade isn’t for him to feel like a general - it’s so he can copy his authoritarian friends without actually having the military cred himself to back it up. It’s cargo cult dictatorship.
