Shelter doesn’t have release on github, Can I still install it through obtanium?
Title pretty much explains all that I wanted to ask. If a repo doesn’t have release on github or other website, how can we install those app through obtanium?
thanks a lot
GitHub is often used as a code mirror, with the actual repo and builds being hosted elsewhere.
Shelter, as in the work profile app? It shows up on Droid-ify for me, and a check of the Links section confirms it’s hosted on a different repo (gitea.angry.im).
thanks a lot I guess I will just download it with fdroid
You can use Obtanium to download from F-Droid, both from the main repo and third party repos. If you would prefer to use Obtanium.
thanks a lot
Yes you can, it is in the Crowdsourced app configurations repo
{"id":"net.typeblog.shelter","url":"https://fdroid.typeblog.net/","author":"PeterCxy","name":"Shelter","additionalSettings":"{\"appIdOrName\":\"net.typeblog.shelter\",\"pickHighestVersionCode\":false,\"trackOnly\":false,\"versionExtractionRegEx\":\"\",\"matchGroupToUse\":\"\",\"versionDetection\":true,\"releaseDateAsVersion\":false,\"useVersionCodeAsOSVersion\":false,\"apkFilterRegEx\":\"\",\"invertAPKFilter\":false,\"autoApkFilterByArch\":true,\"appName\":\"Shelter\",\"shizukuPretendToBeGooglePlay\":false,\"exemptFromBackgroundUpdates\":false,\"skipUpdateNotifications\":false,\"about\":\"Isolate your Big Brother Apps, using Work Profiles\",\"appAuthor\":\"PeterCxy\"}","overrideSource":"FDroidRepo"}
the link seems to be broken?
Updated the link
thanks a lot!
You should see a link inside obtainium itself, when you press “add app”. Just press on “crowdsourced…”
The programs listed there are the harder ones to setup correctly for obtainium, so you should primarily use that, and if the app isn’t there, then paste the github link / fdroid link / etc like you would normally in add app.
thanks a lot
No, afaik. Building on your phone would be very slow anyways. Idk what shelter is, there are way too many projects with that name on GH. If it’s a slow releasing app, you could build it once and install it. Otherwise, maybe fork it and set up releases there.
thanks a lot I guess I will just download it with fdroid
