You have every right to go to jail or flee instead. And in my opinion, a moral obligation.

“My death empire will detain me a little if I don’t abet the mass murder of children” is not a good excuse.

You have every right to go to jail or flee instead. And in my opinion, a moral obligation.

Fleeing is only an option for the rich - as Elon demonstrated when he skipped Apartheid-South Africa (the same Apartheid-South Africa that allowed his family to grow filthy rich) before the SADF could get him.

For all practical purposes, so is going to jail as a conscientous objector - you’re going to need that wealth since you’ll be ostracised and utterly incapable of finding paid work after or even ever if you’re just lower working class. That’s how it worked in Apartheid-South Africa, at least.

None of this matters, of course. The unwilling conscripts and the enthusiastic volunteers all wear the same uniforms. There is very little room for these kinds of qualms when the bullets are flying - it’s war. If I was a Palestinian, none of this would cause me to hesitate in any way whatsoever.
