minus-squareResonosity@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3·13 hours agoYou can also buy used or refurbished Fairphones too
minus-squareqweertz (they/she)@programming.devlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up4arrow-down2·13 hours agoI suppose, but Fairphones are a security and thus a privacy nightmare. As soon as you cross a border or police get your phone, e/OS and CalyxOS are virtually useless

minus-squareqweertz (they/she)@programming.devlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up6·13 hours agoYou can donate to GrapheneOS and I highly doubt that the hardware of the Fairphone is open e/OS is a joke btw

Yes it is the best way to buy a google phone, but you are still supporting google in most cases.
minus-squareqweertz (they/she)@programming.devlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up8·17 hours agoArguably, 2nd hand private sellers would have bought it anyway and you are just saving e-waste at that point
minus-squareExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up3arrow-down2·13 hours agoEh, the 2nd hand sellers also wouldn’t be buying if they couldn’t sell them.
minus-squareqweertz (they/she)@programming.devlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2arrow-down3·edit-213 hours agoI would think that private buyers buy a phone they are gonna use and then sell it once they don’t use it anymore 🧠
minus-squareExcessShiv@lemmy.dbzer0.comlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up2·13 hours agoI was thinking of the shops that buy used and resell them.
