In some ways that’s really neat tech, in others it sounds like a setup for a plot based around forcing someone to think a secret so that it can be stolen. Maybe it’s a heist, maybe it’s a government interrogation.

On the one hand, I can see a future where people in office settings are required to wear that, so that your bosses always know exactly what’s on your mind at all times, which is terrifying.

On the other hand, I would kind of like to play with it to see if the songs that are infinitely playing on repeat in my head could be reproduced perfectly just from me thinking about them.

It would also basically mean that I would be unemployable because nobody wants to hear, you know, a song constantly being played out of my head on infinite repeat.

Maybe it would make me an excellent spy because you know they’d plug me in and all they’d get to hear is “we’re no strangers to love, you know the rules, and so do I.”

That’s the premise for Den of Wolves. In development by 10 chambers so idk how good it’ll be but it’s a cool idea.

If they tried to use this to listen to my thoughts, they’d quickly turn it off after being subjected to a cacophony of two or three parallel inner dialogue streams, the hook from a random ’70s power ballad on repeat, interspersed with a ’90s Mentos ad, to do lists constantly being revised, weird questions that pop up, side quests, thoughts about past embarrassments that make me cringe, and my attempts to practice shitty Mandarin.

Nothing useful would ever be sifted out of that noise.
