I thought this was going to be a somewhat detailed post with some news from an official source, but it’s just StatsCounter pages showing increased Linux use. It’s great to know that Qatar is using Linux more, more power to them, however I really was hoping it was due to an official change in course of the governments in the Gulf states… Maybe it’s driven by Israel committing genocide on fellow Arabs and Microsoft providing the technical assistance to do so?
This is one of many Techrights have been doing to track the relatively sudden decrease of windows and increase of Linux/unknown/etc… OSs. But yeah it would be nice to see a more in depth article. Maybe someone (or yourself) can chime in?
It might be best to ask on Mastodon or something to hear from people living in Qatar and other Gulf states. I don’t speak Arabic nor do I know any Arabs from the Gulf. That area has always been opaque to me.
