I’m so confused by how Reddit is being moderated now. I had someone follow me to various subreddits, responding to every comment I made with a particular anti trans slur, (the one that rhymes with “moon”, not sure if I’m allowed to say it here) and a demand that I join the “41 percent” (which basically means “kill yourself.”) I reported their account, just once, and it was the first time I’d ever reported anyone. A few hours later, I was permanently banned for “abusing the report button”. I tried making another account and was instantly banned. The accounts of other people in my household have also been permanently banned, which is the most confusing part of all of it.
The account that was harassing me is still up as far as I’m aware. So, apparently it’s fine to call people slurs and tell them to die, but they’re not allowed to complain about it.
So, I’m new to this place. I was told it was better.
I got banned a couple years ago for the same thing.
Moderators can report reports as ‘abusive’, and Reddit basically accepts their word without bothering to actually check anything.
Naturally, certain groups have been exploiting the fuck out of this situation to silence opposing viewpoints.
You could appeal the ban, but most likely Reddit won’t read it and you’ll get an automated response.
As for the repeat ban, you’re running into Reddit’s ban evasion features. They use IP address and browser fingerprinting to track you, even when logged out. Easily defeated, with a little effort - assuming you want to.
This. They want to keep the useful idiots that are doing their bidding for free on board. Thus encouraging megalomania and overzealousness btw.
The few mods who were better than that have left long ago.
anyone with self-respect would.
sadly the psychos always push out those who have self-respect and respect for others.
