The head of the Signal app has criticized plans in the EU to allow messengers to have backdoors to enable automatic searches for criminal content. Signal is considered one of the most secure messengers.
Either Apple will cave and do what they need to follow the requirements… or the EU will cave on the requirements after public pressure of not getting new iPhones and iPads anymore.
One way or another, Apple will never exit the region over principle.
They will legally have to if Europe enacts some policies that Apple aren’t able to commit to.
They’ve shown to governments that they have systems in place that they’re not willing to / cant backdoor.
