Faber is now best known for proposing the so-called “Forever Mouse” concept – a device with constantly evolving firmware features built on base hardware that customers would purchase only once. According to Faber, users would happily pay monthly or annual subscriptions to access these software-based upgrades. However, no concrete business plans have yet been announced to bring the idea to market.
It’s fascinating how myopic, vapid and delusional some CEOs can be.
Even a superficial analysis of this idea easily shows that the math simply does not work out (and that’s why they never brought the idea to the market).
People like that really do make society worse for eveybody.
It’s always amusing to me when encountering someone who has no concept of how little other people think about the things they focus on day in day out.
Since the first optical mice, pretty much the only features that have changed how I use a mouse are solid wireless connectivity with good battery life and side buttons. Both of those are completely dependent on hardware changes. Reliable software is important, but if I have to think about your software at all to use your peripheral, your approach to software is wrong.
I think you’re misinterpreting what he means. His software updates would be essentially “pay us or your mouse won’t work”
Investors are so ready to replace all managers with Ai. Lol and my leadership team is all about collecting data on how our jobsites are run. Little do they know the company is feeding that data to Ai so Ai can mindlessly tell us how to do our jobs, just like our human managers.
Can’t think of a better way to leak company board meeting details. /s
