I wanted to add wheels to my hammock so I could easily move it into shade throughout the day. Some openscad later and came up with this little bracket. Uses a clevis pin for an axle, and just pops into the metal tube feet of the hammock.

For your edit, you don’t want the direction of shear forces right along the layer lines. This is less pretty but will be much stronger for the intended purpose.
Yup, exactly this. And with the tear drop holes, there’s no need for support material in this orientation.
