Edit 2 days later: thanks again for input, just updated last night, went super quick and Findroid (last stable version) still works fine!!!
I was just about to update Jellyfin to 10.11 finally when I realised I have no idea if Findroid, the 3rd party Android client, will keep working with it.
My family is using it to connect to our server and so there is pressure for me that this stays functional. I checked their github and it seems they are in the middle of a rewrite.
Found a topic in the issues that something isn’t working with 10.11 but it wasn’t clear if its the rewrite beta version or the last stable one. Anyone here using Findroid with 10.11 who can tell me if it works as expected?
The tracking issue for reference:
You’ve linked Finamp. My post is about Findroid. Easy to mixup though, kind of glad other third party clients are not using Fin as prefix.
Sidenote: This post prompted me to go try the rewrite, I grabbed a build from the GitHub actions and it’s looking pretty nice!
Seems all the basics are working, we might get a beta release soon!deleted by creator
I don’t normally use that app but I figured I could do a quick test for you - the stable version (0.15.3) does not seem to work on my end. It does connect to the Jellyfin server (10.11.1) but nothing loads after that.It doesn’t look like findroid has had any stable releases in over a year so it may indeed be showing some incompatibility issues.EDIT: Re-tested, it does seem to work as long as you have video libraries enabled on the Jellyfin user (e.g. Movies/TV). My earlier test was with a Jellyfin user that only has Music enabled, I did not know Findroid does not play music. (most of my Jellyfin mobile use is for music)
Funny, I also did a quick test with the most recent version and it seemed to work fine at first glance…
Works for me too, with Findroid 0.15.3 on jellyfin server 10.11.1, did a clean install just to test for OP.
If the app was still installed and logged in when upgrading to latest major version of jellyfin server, the other poster might have to clean cache on the app. I had to do this for all my current jellyfin android app sessions, otherwise it wouldn’t connect to the new jellyfin instance after I upgraded
Dude, thanks a bunch! Saved me a major headache, guess I’ll have to wait till they caught up with Jellyfin, hopefully not too long anymore.
If there has been no stable releases in over a year it might be time to look for alternatives until activity is shown on the project again
There seems to be an active rewrite going on, so I am cautiously optimistic.
But what else is there even? The offical app is ok but not very nice to use, no good download system, just downloads files without direct way of playing them. Others I know are Fladder and Streamyfin, both also not working super well with downloads last time I tried. And lastly Jellyflix from the PlayStore which is not open source.
Seems to be working for me with Findroid 0.15.3 on jellyfin server 10.11.1, did a clean install just for this test, just also tested downloading and offline play pay, that also seemed to work.

1st pic my findroid version installed, 2nd pic my jellyfin server version, 3rd pic streaming from findroid.
Woah, huge thanks, also for all the documentation! Guess I’ll take the plunge tonight after all.
Minor update, I edited my original comment above. The app does seem to work with Jellyfin 10.11.1.
Maybe I’m not the best test candidate LOL… I usually use the Android Jellyfin apps for music so my original test was with a Jellyfin user with only music libraries enabled… Findroid does not like that apparently. Once I logged in with a user with TV/Movie libraries enabled it seems to load and play video.
I appreciate your efforts nonetheless :)
Thanks for the update!
