Thanks for mentioning Yandex, bringing is back onto my radar.
Sometimes it really is this easy, still an accomplishment. I’m typing this using a Mac Mini which I purchased with minimal RAM, and then maxed out the RAM (64GB) as it was much cheaper that way. With this model (2018) it was necessary to remove nearly everything from the case to access the RAM. I watched the video, made notes, carefully laid out the parts as I disassembled the unit, pulled the old RAM, put in the new, and reversed the ‘disassembly’. Then because I needed to do this on a second one, did the same thing again. All of this was so the home and office computers would be the same. Right to repair, like all rights, needs to be exercised.
Yay! This is great. I’ve used ifixit, previously, tho’ it’s been a while. Good job!
Even a small donation is helpful. Archive.org is an enormously resource. Please do all you can to support this project.
LoL, whoopsie doodles I accidentally bought a swasticar. I mean it’s not like I haven’t accidentally bought cars on at least 3 specific occasions in the past. Oh wait, it IS exactly like I’ve never accidentally bought a car in my life. Hmm, what are the statistics, tho? How many people have accidentally bought a car in the past? I suppose I could also win one in a raffle that someone entered me in, without my consent. A friend could just buy one for me. Anything can happen, it’s just that some things are far more likely.
F - You see it’s even less likely for me to buy a tesler, than it is for them to be self driving.
Ah, yes, I see, allow me to disambiguate: Human Powered Vehicle
There are two kinds of peer reviewed research I like. 1. The amazing wild nobody ever expected it sort of results that upset multiple fields of research. And 2. The gradual, incremental improvements of what we already thought, but now with even better data. The former is uncommon and exciting; the latter merely extends the sphere of knowledge in expected ways. This clearly falls into category #2, so Yay!
Let’s see what can be done. Ape together strong!
It’s like hover craft, sure they work, but at what cost? Bicycles, now there’s a design one can roll with. There was an HPV, The Gossamer Alabatross, crossed the English Channel in '79. Is anybody riding them now? Do you see similar HPVs anywhere now? No!
I"m pretty sure one can be too careful, tho’ I’m sure I’ll never find out.
It’s common to say, “Gee us a pint 'o yer best weeds, dear Publican, if you please.”
smae! there wasn’t a community for my town, so I made one. Also I’m really into photobiomodulation, made a community, but it was on kbin which frittered away, so now I have to remake it. We’re building a whole new thing, new culture, new communities. No better time for it, with all the chaos, let’s make a shiny new garden here, tend it, watch it grow.
I hear you on the scroll less. Time limits help me to not be obsessively scrolling. Emphasizing quality over quantity also helps. Cheers!
SYAC: The key sentence: "Bluesky, despite its innovative technology and good intentions, is built on the same venture-capital-backed foundation that has led so many promising platforms to eventually prioritize shareholders over users. " Mastodent wins!
Leopards, faces, nom nom nom.
what are you interested in finding that you aren’t? build it, put it up, ask questions. We’re all here on the frontier building what we want.
If you want for something here, it’s a new place, make it. We’re all over here building a new way to do this thing, and everyone’s input is important. What do you want to see, that you haven’t found on Fedi?

The parameters for VNS from the article: “All participants received stimulation at equivalent parameters, consisting of 0.5 s trains of 0.8 mA 100 μs biphasic pulses at 30 Hz, delivered every 6 s during in-office therapy and homework sessions. This stimulation paradigm was based on preclinical optimization studies [26–29]. The delivery of VNS every 6 s ensures that stimulation occurs within seconds of the relevant portions of each PE session, a key determinant in the enhancement of fear extinction [27].”
taVNS is a non-invasive method to stimulate the vagus nerve via electrical stimulation applied to the branch of the vagus nerve it that comes to the skin surface on the Cymba Concha region of the Auricle (the outer part of the ear). This method could be used in conjunction with Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and would be be non-invasive, which in my mind would be a significant advantage.
