Thanks I’ll give them a try, EndeavoursOS is next on my list.
I know it’s dumb but I just really don’t like the name Fedora so I’ve strayed away so far 😅 Names matter

I’ve heard this is quite a mess to maintain.
Ideally I want to find the best out of the box solution so that I can switch friends and family over to when I feel they and the software are ready

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve gotten to that point.
They’d claim it’s AI generated and move on to ‘more important thigns’ like the money wasted on foodstamps

Same and how well a game runs on the Steam Machine will likely be in all benchmarks and devs will optimise their games for Linux (Steam OS)

2026 Year of the Linux desktop?
Surely this will bring over a lot of people to Linux

Let’s go!!
I hope governments switch to this

This is so dumb wow.
Good luck out there in the dating pool if something like this will have you disqualify someone.
I’m sure there was people shouting that they refuse to date people who send emails instead of letters back in the day.

Compared to and based on what? Can you add some context.
That has not been my experience at all

Linux battery life is bad?
My laptop battery life doubled when I switched from Windows to Mint
It would be great if it could run fully locally with loads of security around it so only you have access

Never had anyone tell me this, I very clearly have ADHD

Finding what I want on Amazon, and then looking it up and buying directly from the supplier. It’s usually cheaper too.

a big issue for open-source is funding, I don’t see having a pro version as an issue when all you get for pro is basically a few more themes and tech support.
It’s still a giant leap in the right direction switching from Windows

Why?
Ah damn it’s 15:03 I missed it, geuss I’ll have to play games some more and try again at 16:00
That was a lot of fun.
If you haven’t tried it already, try his ‘create a password’ game.
it’s fun and infuriating

It’s GNOME with a lot of hand holding and guidance, which is what your average user is used to and wants. Most people here aren’t the target audience for Zorin as we probably already run Linux

They seem to very much focus on a smooth UX for people trying Linux for the first time. It seems to be made idiot proof, so it won’t frustrate new users and would meet all the needs of the vast majority of users

It’s essentially reddit but, decentralised like email, aka. you don’t have one entity controlling all email.
It’s user focused and free from corporate overlords, it’s a lot friendlier, kinda feels like the old Internet
Thanks solid advice.
I do care about why people don’t like cononical, but it’s a marathon not a sprint.
Every step in the right direction is a win.
I really want to find a nice distro that just works and that I can eventually switch friends and family onto.
It might not be the MOST ethical or best distro, but it’s better than Microsoft and to me that’s enough.
