A single company has been allowed to have their cars operate. Big difference to regular people’s cars being able to drive around by themselves at the owners will.

You got me! Well done, head down to your nearest Tesla dealership for a free car. Tell them the secret word “Nazi” to get the discount (and look really cool at the same time).
Ok so your issue is that police abuse their powers, powers that regular citizens do not have. I agree that’s a huge problem and it should be addressed regularly.
That has nothing to do with the discussion at hand though. Sovereign citizens live in la-la-land. There are no special hidden laws about “travelling vs driving” where you don’t need a drivers license to drive on public roads. There are laws that allow police to speed and go through red lights.
Ah ok so you didn’t answer my question, you wanted to prove some anti-capitalist point that had nothing to do with the conversation.
They REALLY do. What you call “situational allowances” are what we’re talking about. You can’t turn on some flashing lights and speed through red lights to get to a crime legally. They can.
Police have special powers that the rest of us don’t have. If they didn’t then police wouldn’t even exist.
If only they didn’t fake it to get their desired result, then maybe it could have been useful.
I agree that LiDAR and other technologies should be used in conjunction with regular cameras. I don’t know why anyone would be against that unless they have vested interests. For various reasons though I understand that it isn’t always possible - price being a big one.
And the exploitation of labor? Where did that come into it?
If you must supervise the driving, then it’s not full self driving
You’re just making your own rules up now lol. You also don’t seem to understand what “supervised” means, nor the laws around cars and drivers. Teslas FSD is in use on roads now. Fully driverless cars are not legally allowed yet - they all need to have a driver in the drivers seat supervising, even if they literally never have to do a single thing.
You’re right re:overstated, thanks for the correction.
Tesla didn’t want to build a regular pickup truck. They wanted to build something different, essentially a concept car. That should be applauded imo as a car fanatic.
No one in the history of the world has been more influential for electric cars than Elon Musk. I don’t think that’s even slightly debatable.
You’re assuming that they’re ones that leave the school property. You’re also assuming that they are constantly recording audio and video, which being chromebooks we know they’re most likely not since they’re low spec low storage devices since they’re cloud based.
who I have romantic feelings for
Ok yeh no, you need to either get some help or stop with this or it will make things even worse for you. You’re developing romantic feelings for a fictional character and an AI bot. There’s no possible way this ends well for you if you let it continue going the way it is.
Normal? No. A bad thing? Probably not, as long as you understand that it’s a fictional character and a machine generating responses to you, and not a real person.
If it works for you it works for you, but you need to be careful.
Higher education needs to move with the times. Just like the old reason of “you won’t always have a calculator with you” for not allowing a calculator in an exam is outdated, writing essays and reports as assessment is outdated.
The entire system should be built around preparing people for the real world, giving them the knowledge and the skillset to succeed in their chosen field. Determining this by how many formulas, definitions, rules etc they can remember in a test environment does not do that. Asking them to write an essay or a report in their own time doesn’t do that, nor does saying they can’t use all the tools available to do so.
Police have special powers according to the law, so no, the same arguments don’t work.
And isn’t rendered unusable by a “hole drilled by a pen”. The person comparing a desk to a Chromebook is making a ridiculous comparison.
What sort of hole were you drilling in a desk with a pen in order to completely render the desk unusable?
Excessive surveillance? It’s school property lol
The topic never even remotely veered towards the benefits of communism over capitalism.
When a Lemmy instance owner gets a legal request from a foreign countries government to take down content, after they’re done shitting themselves they’ll take the content down or they’ll have to implement a country wide block on that country, along with not allowing any citizens of that country to use their instance no matter where they are located.
Block me, I don’t care. You’re just proving that you can’t handle the truth and being challenged with it.
“X bans 8000 users who oppose the government”
Lemmy users: “Fuck elmo, fascist Nazi”
“Indian government forces X to ban 8000 users who oppose the government at threat of banning X in India”
Lemmy users: “Fuck elmo, fascist Nazi”
“X challenges Indian government in court over order to ban 8000 users who oppose the government”
Lemmy users: “Fuck elmo, fascist Nazi”
It would be funny if it wasn’t so obvious how politically captured Lemmy is already.
