They don’t even see the games behind the transactions they’re processing, so you can just buy as usual. Steam and Itch reacted differently to the complains they got: Steam deleted only content corresponding to particular tags (incest, noncon, etc), while Itch simply hidden all NSFW games from their catalogue. It is speculated the reason behind this is that Steam has very thorough curation and moderation and thus they know exactly what they have on their platform and they can take down exactly the games corresponding to complains while Itch largely relies on self-tagging by developers which is quite arbitrary and doesn’t necessary contain certain tags even if those things are present in game. So Itch would need to perform full review of all NSFW games by moderators to filter out those that are disliked by payment processors. Anyway, few days ago Trump signed executive order to prohibit unlawful debanking, so it is very likely that all delisted/banned games on both Itch and Steam will get back to normal within 180 days.
It’s all so tiresome, just let children watch porn ffs. Are there even proofs it’s harmful in any way? We know it’s not about children, so maybe we should throw away the whole premise at this point? I wouldn’t question that alcohol shouldn’t be sold to children, because it’s quite obvious, but when you raise the issue with porn I start thinking about this and… I see zero reasons why children shouldn’t be allowed to watch porn. Especially if they deliberately want to watch it to the extent they use VPNs.
