  • “Universal enforcement” meaning what? On its face your proposal sounds fundamentally antithetical to what linux is. It’s an open source environment, meaning literally anyone can create software and post it online. Are you wanting all directories to only accept flatpak? I don’t think that would go over well.

I believe you used Nihilism wrong in your previous comment based on what you’ve written here. I think more fitting words are hopelessness, pessimism, or defeatism.

Nihilism is simply refutation of meaning within the world. You can still think kids are great and that life is worth living while believing that there is no meaning to life or any of the other nihilistic assertions. You can even choose to attribute new meaning to your life, as Nietzsche’s Übermensch does. See also Absurdism.

Sorry, Bud. The names are mostly just advertisements and not necessarily useful for understanding the underlying philosophy.

American Liberalism (capital ‘L’) is fluid over time at best in its philosophy, and is actively shifting to further elitist interests from a less charitable perspective. It often prioritises corporations over people and cherry picks which cases of violence are or aren’t acceptable by the state.

American Libertarianism (again, capital ‘L’) is Anarcho-capitalism, which believes the world would be a better place if the state was bordering on non-existent, and companies were allowed to operate completely unregulated.
