You get pretty good about estimating, you learn by weighing stuff at home then you can just guesstimate, it doesn’t need to be absolutely perfect to work. But to be honest if you’re serious about your diet then restaurants are always gonna be a cheat, the reason the stuff tastes good at the restaurant is because they charge it with the good(bad) stuff.

Lots of people already mentioned that you lose the weight in the kitchen, not the gym, but I still don’t see many or any recommendations for counting calories. Truth is most people have no idea how many calories are in the stuff they consume and when I decided to lose weight using a calorie counting app was the number one thing that helped me out. After a while you learn and don’t need to keep logging anymore but at first it was invaluable in my journey losing 35kg.

  • Great comment all around albeit with maybe a bit outdated yet personal experience.

I would say, don’t underestimate blender, it has a lot of parallel progress going on and while I never used it for video editing, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s pretty powerful in that area.

I’m personally a resolve user and I think it doesn’t have anything to envy from avid or premiere at this stage (you admit yourself it was 8 years since you tried it). It’s incredibly powerful and the free version should get you by for most projects though you might run into a few things where you wish you had the studio version.

My personal experience when I was shopping around before settling on resolve (3/4 years ago) was that all the other FOSS options I tried were mid at best.
