I disagree; people on the internet were a lot more helpful back then. These days it’s difficult to get people to care about anything, let alone compel them to help.

Windows is only better for you if you have a high-end Nvidia GPU and/or like having a good HDR implementation (KDE’s HDR support is a joke by comparison). If neither apply to you, then there’s no reason to ever use Windows.

That said, from what I’ve seen since I joined Lemmy, most people here couldn’t give a single fuck about HDR. In fact, every time I even bring it up, I get nothing but hostility from the community (cause how dare I dual boot instead of using Arch fulltime? *sigh*).

You’re missing out on a colorful image that more closely resembles real-life (clouds and sunsets look especially beautiful in HDR), but if you’ve never experienced it before then I can understand why the general opinion around here is that HDR is useless. I mean, I used to think that VA panels had good contrast and that IPS had superior colors, until I got a 4K144Hz HDR OLED… Hell, at one point I used to think that 60 FPS looked smooth too…

Anyway, that’s the end of my little rant. You can go ahead and downvote me now.

I also have recently-diagnosed ADHD, and could never do freelance because I feel constantly burnt out and unmotivated all the time, even when doing absolutely nothing. I have to be in a structured environment with clear goals, or my life completely falls apart.

Not going to assume anything, but ADHD can manifest itself in different ways depending on your gender. And there’s also the fact that it is a complex disability. You’re lucky enough to have the type of ADHD that allows you to be productive. My parents have the same kind. I’m unlucky enough to have the “gifted child who grows up to disappoint their parents” type of ADHD.

• In my teens and early 20s I used to enjoy snowboarding. I was never any good at it, but at least I could make it down the mountain. Tried again in my 30s, and I could barely even stand on the board. Never made it off the practice hill.

• Getting in and out of cars is painful now. Especially since I drive 90s and 2000s Japanese sports cars, which have a tendency to sit so low that it feels like your ass is dragging on the pavement when you drive them. I have no idea how I’m going to be able to continue driving them 20, 30, 40 years from now. I don’t want a giant modern car. Even sedans are SUV-sized these days.

I blame Tankies. They’re too aggressive with their “liberals this, liberals that” bullshit, which drives a way a lot of people cause that makes Lemmy look like a MAGA-infested shithole to anyone who doesn’t know what a Tankie this.

Hexbear and LemmyGrad’s bullshit almost made me quit Lemmy day one, until I learned how instances work and how to block them. I imagine that less-determined redditors will take one look at this place, see a liberal-bashing post, and then immediately fuck off.

Because they don’t work. I used them for nearly 20 years before giving up. I’m a solid 8/10, yet no one ever messaged me, and no one ever replied to my messages in all those years. Not a single person.

The only way to find love is by going out and meeting people. Met someone at work back in 2018 and now I’m happily married.
