For real. My parents were EXTACTIC when I got into DDR. They were happy to pay for the pads. Making exercise fun is the only way I’ve been able to regularly do it.
It sounds like you have a drastically different experience with exercise than others, to the point that you might want to talk to someone about it? Very few people get as mentally stressed when exercising as you seem to be describing.
if I fuck it up, it doesn’t spill over into other tasks
Somebody has never accidentally spilled the entire litter box onto the floor.
Push back when you see it. Remind them that we have a chance to reset, and they don’t have to act the same way here that they did on reddit.
Turns out you can click the link and find out! It links to a very short Bluesky post! Try it out! Lemmy has more than just headlines!
The root of the problem is police culture and using police to handle situations that they aren’t trained for. People who say ACAB are referring to how current police organizations tend to fire whistle blowers and protect officers who abuse their power.
Depression is definitely a factor for many people. But the death of 3rd spaces is fairly well documented. The problem is that many people don’t know how to make friends. Friends very rarely happen instantly, they usually are a result of repeated and consistent interactions. Adults rarely seek out situations that would give them those types of interactions outside of work and school.
Did you watch it by yourself or in a group?
Bad movies are much better in groups.
Chess is a war game. Killing and violence in general are devastating. It’d be interesting to compare the brain activity of a murderer with a grandmaster player. I have my suspicions about what we would see.
Eh, still about 50-50 with these people. I’ve sent an email with 4 nicely formatted and numbered questions and had them respond only to question 3. Like… You read some of it, decided to answer one, and then give up with no other acknowledgement? Shit is wild.
I’d LOVE a resource like that! I’m sure it exists but I never found it, and it is a silly thing to be hung up on but I just didn’t properly understand the folder structure. I’ve still used Linux plenty but I’m dragging my feet on using it as a daily driver, but I’m VERY close to making the jump.
Calls and easily sharing my screen are 90% of my use cases for Discord. The entire appeal of it initially was that it was a more functional Ventrilo with both text and voice channels. Hopefully something FOSS gets further developed by the time Discord completely shits the bed.
It’s obviously not great for the type of community that’s about knowledge sharing and learning, and it does suck that a lot of communities went there.
But it’s a great platform for simple social servers that are just about communicating. It’s super easy to sign up and set up a server. A lot of it just works well for chat.
Them going public probably puts a timer on the service though, so if it happens Discord probably just will get worse.
Thanks for sharing the article! It was very informative. I’m definitely going to remember it as the Robert pattinson law though.
Are the first few episodes a bit slow? Watched the first episode and it didn’t click at all for us.
It’s definitely hard to know when being overly enthusiastic ends and when love bombing begins. I agree that it isn’t always necessarily malicious but, as with most everything, clear open communication is the solution.
Sorting by top day and hiding read posts gives me more than enough “fresh content.” If you’re craving more, maybe that’s just the Reddit addiction.
