I hate the phrasing of this title. It makes it sound like it’s already happened. It should be Will Perplexity be the first AI unicorn to fail?.

I think this one is to get the ball rolling with the new self-contained paradigm. And then maybe the next iteration expands into AR. With the Steam Machine and its desktop mode, I think applications beyond gaming are going to start becoming a priority to Valve. I see many people buying these and just using them as their primary PC, which was much more rare with the SteamDeck. And then all of that will feed back into the headsets

Having a Linux machine, with decent hardware as a common target for developers will have huge implications for gaming in Linux. The SteamDeck has already inspired more devs to make native Linux versions of their games, rather than relying on Proton. This should expand the appeal for devs even more so

This should have been a documentation page!
They can’t monetize directly, but they can still do Patreon and sponsored ad reads. Maybe this already exists, but we could make it common to have donation wallets linked on videos, so you can still get tips too.
It’s just the ad revenue we can’t do

We made decisions that have absolutely decimated the value of our brand. Now go make money from the ashes!

This feels like Twitter all over again

They slipped “God” into it in the 1950s. So probably a sizable factor in why we have Christian nationalists now

People could use SVG animations + JS to accomplish the same thing. It just never took off for some reason
If there’s new functionality, it should have been a minor version bump smh
Thanks, but I don’t think that patch level updates are news worthy

Trump and the Trump Administration are the same thing. Just assume if someone talks about one, they’re talking about both

He’s also only targeting cities in blue states. That’s why Texas and Georgia haven’t been invaded yet

Remember when the idea of the nazis coming back was still funny?

My car is basically an accessory that turns my phone into a car, yes.

I’m looking forward to IRC v3. It will bring modern chat features like threads and emoji reactions, and it might be time for a resurgence in its popularity

Lemmy’s user base has been stagnant at half a million for over a year now. Something needs to improve. We’re still too small to have vibrant niche communities. I don’t necessarily want the kind of garbage that came in over the past 10 years or so here. I was already looking for an alternative to Reddit for quite a few years before the big Lemmy migration occurred 2 years ago. But I think we need to hit at least a million users to have the same quality and breadth of content we used to enjoy on the old site before Aaron died.

We should be a better community with better norms, but the software should be at parity with what we had in 2008

Good news, the block user feature has been around for a while
Do y’all want Minority Report? Because this is how you get Minority Report
