“You’ll own nothing and like it”
The biggest issue to me with snap (unless something has changed since the last time I looked it up) is that it’s all a walled garden by canonical and it’s not open source (in the sense of package submission, review, rating, source availability, etc).
With flatpak/flathub you can see the source and discussion behind each package
https://github.com/orgs/flathub/repositories
But that transparency doesn’t exist on snap so you are just hoping canonical did their homework on vetting apps
Because it avoids this

It’s the baseline of UNIX, with Linux maintaining most compatibility, meaning servers around the world, desktop environments including MacOS and GNU/Linux, gaming machines (including video game consoles like PlayStation and Steam Deck), mobile devices like Android and Apple Devices, mainframe computing systems, embedded systems, so on and so forth. It makes up the backbone of our technology infrastructure. It continues to be iterated on, and is tightly bound with the C programming language and its improvements and iterations.
For my dev environment I’ve had great success combining home-manager and their integration with
Sure, it doesn’t quite fit the nix philosophy perfectly, but everything is still in my home.nix file and my home directory, and and I can swap tool versions on the fly and direct IntelliJ to their locations pretty easily

The hentai server I’m on told me to switch to libreoffice instead of helping 🙁

If we’re living in a simulation the player hit save in 2000 and is currently spamming the disaster buttons

But of course not Twitter or Facebook, where Russia pays money to radicalize people

Sort of the point though. If they take a small creator to court, they can just bankrupt them through expensive legal proceedings, and because they do have the patents the judge is unlikely to throw the case out

Either that or it will secretly fund gang activity or drug smuggling or something so that it can “catch the bad guys” and secure more lucrative government contracts

Yeah this is awesome for esoteric game preservation. Hopefully in the future someone builds an iPod emulator specifically that can open these files so they can be played without the original hardware

Also specific proprietary software people need to use for work. If you’re a design freelancer that cannot properly edit photoshop or illustrator files, customers are likely to go with another freelancer. That’s why many people dual boot for when they have to keep windows around, but this allows them to keep the evil side of their computer at least a little less evil.
TV and movies I’m totally good with 1080p. If I want a cinematic experience, that’s what the cinema is for.
But since switching to PC and gaming in 4k everywhere I can, it feels like a night and day difference to play in 1080p. Granted that means I care about monitor resolution rather than TV resolution.
But as an aside, as a software engineer that works from home, crisp text, decent color spectrum support, good brightness in a bright room, all things that make your day a whole lot better when you stare at a computer screen for a large chunk of your day
Gotta pick a new OS for the workstations. ipad

It might mostly be the banks, but I know of one gas station near me that hits that max hold, and then seconds after I’m done filling, the charge quickly switches to 30 or so dollars I put in. Whereas the other gas station that hold stayed there for almost a day. My guess is intermediary card processors play a part as well. I also learned place number 2 sells fake BIC lighters, so I don’t go there anymore.

For me that’s like the inverse. Plenty of fast food around me but the nearby McDonald’s is pretty crazy efficient (and generally busy), always gets my order right without issue. Burger King, Taco Bell, Wendy’s in the area are all terrible with order issues, badly prepared food, etc. I’ve never checked but I wonder which of the stores are franchises and which are corporate owned and if that makes a difference
At least Fallout season 2 will be in New Vegas instead of the east coast
It wants me to sign up and give it my data which is a form of currency
