  • As a son, every time I come home with a new tattoo my mom asks what it means, and I say ‘that I love my momma’. A joke, but expressive of the spirit of tattoo IMO.

    The tattoos I have for my kids are a daddy bird famous for raising its young, a storybook character, a favorite flower. If my kids ever ask what they mean I can say, 'that I love you.

    Not knowing you, Id tell anyone with a question like this to aim for something that says 'I love you, I love us." Names are not always forever. Ideas are though

  • Pangolin is my next homelab project. I can’t wait to give it a go. If anyone has any advise or guides it’d be appreciated

    I don’t know of alternatives

    Pangolin, while u.s. based does not appear to serve the state of its interests

    I am not aware of a direct peer, but tailscale, a bastion hosting a direct VPN or remote reverse proxy to your homelab are all similar. Pangolin seemingly combines the best and more of these scenarios

    I was at the bike shop a few weeks back and a ghost walked in. He came in wearing a medical mask covered by a bandana, sunglasses, cap. They wore gloves, long sleaved pants and shirt.

    First question from staff, ‘this a robbery?’

    Ghost, ‘no, I just need 27 2.5 tubes, miss.’

    They get the tubes, he agrees. Staff asks if he has an account. Ghost says, “nope, why would I need one?” Staff says they do it for records, insurance claim assist, and discounts. Ghost goes with a John Doe, pays cash and peaces the fuck out.

    Total King, but dude was given up a lot. Half of us were drinking beers enjoying a warm evening in spring. I hope he has had some good rides.

    I can say with confidence thay he was a white male. In his 50s. About 5’10". 140 lbs-ish. If anyone wants to get any tips, good luck!

  • Thank you! Your tech analysis mirrors much of my own and your build of matrix mirrors some proofs I’m working. It is wonderful to see what others are doing. Thank you for sharing.

    I am hosting on vultr and deployed synapse, postgres, and a signal bridge on a 2 gb mem, single core VM. It is simple but effective for learning. It is about 12$ per month.

    My next build will be docker based. Reverse proxies are a weakness of mine so I am trying to upskill before I make the change and advertise my setup as prod to family and friends :)

    I’d prefer to run everything from my homelab, but I don’t have the infosec confidence to open my home network. The costs of cloud will never beat the salvaged comps I get at university surplus ;_;
