Generally fair point. My issue though is that most people will just go to this website and won’t consider other lists or websites, viewing this as the definitive list of Fediverse alternatives. Someone not putting someone’s software on their website isn’t technically censorship, true (this is the other coin of free speech), it does effectively censor Lemmy from the general conversation about Fediverse alternatives.
No, I don’t. If it’s about instances I’d understand it a bit more, even though I wouldn’t entirely agree with that either (I’m a free speech stan), but this is a page listing Fediverse alternative software. The software is fine and relatively untainted from the intentions of the Lemmy devs from what I can tell (although that was not originally the case). They deserved to be criticized, but not censored from Fediverse articles listing alternatives to big tech platforms.
I hate it when people try to gatekeep like this. I don’t need to be handheld. If there’s a Fediverse alternative to something and it mostly works, it should be on the website. Anything less is not useful at best.
Edit: I say this as someone who has historically criticized the behavior of the devs as well as multiple Lemmy communities BTW.

Been paying attention to indie film labels and it definitely seems like climate change fear porn is a growing genre in independent filmmaking.
They make them but they aren’t intensely marketed. They rely on word of mouth but they don’t get as much word of mouth as A24 movies so they often fall by the wayside.

I hear good things about the Ultra but I’ll never buy one. The Premiere+ is still killing it and I don’t think we’ll need to replace it, and nobody in the family seems to care as much about this as I do so I don’t think they’ll be replacing the other Roku products in the home anytime soon.
Hmm I can’t say I’ve ever used the voice features. But I (unfortunately) got my family into the Roku ecosystem awhile ago (before streaming blew up, we had got rid of DirecTV longgggg ago when it became too expensive and my dad had lost his job) and every single Roku device we’ve ever had except for the 2018 Roku Premiere+ just slowly gets more and more broken over time. The interface will take multiple seconds to respond to a button press after a couple years or so. It’s so bad that we have a Roku TV that’s so slow that there’s a Roku device plugged into it that we use instead, and even that device is so slow that I’m washing it got burned with fire. On top of that I can tell that certain apps know that they’re running on crappy hardware and software (particularly the Sling TV app), and deliver footage at a horrendously low video quality as a result.
I do but at least they don’t prevent you from suing them like Roku does.

LOL fair. If I have a choice (we’ll see when I move out) I take Google TV over Roku everytime. Roku’s software is horrible, Apple got sued over doing far less than what Roku does with their operating system.

Because as the leading “Fediverse alternative” website, it essentially tells the viewer that Lemmy doesn’t exist, which I think does a disservice to prospective Fediverse users.
But yes good point, anyone can make an alternative website, I think right wing people made like a fuckgab.com site back in the day to recommend Gab alternatives on the Fediverse.
