I’ve been gaming on Linux on both Deck and Desktop for a while now and I like it, but I also have to admit that it’s not without issues. Thanks to Steam and Proton, most games really do “just work”, but some, especially non-Steam games or related tools like launchers, plugin/mod managers can cause issues and may need more effort to get running, which can be difficult for people with little Linux experience. I also recognise that not everyone wants to have to deal with that and I think that’s fair. And I get the impression that many Linux gamers underestimate their own skills and how much the average non-tech person would have to learn to be able to have a similarly good experience.
Updates can also just break games. I’s happened to me with Trackmania when the stupid Ubisoft launcher suddenly wouldn’t work anymore, or Blizzard games like World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2, which started having graphical issues. Slay the Spire, after a patch, always launched on the wrong screen and refused to let me move it to the primary one.
Disclaimer: I’m on a non-gaming focused, but popular distro (Fedora).

Concerta and Ritalin are both methylphenidate medications. The “regular” Ritalin is instant release and Concerta is extended release. Because these two are the most well-known, “Ritalin” is often used as a synonym for “instant release methylphenidate” and “Concerta” for “extended release methylphenidate”. As far as I can tell, descriptions like “long acting” (LA) and “extended release” (ER/XR) don’t have clear definitions and are often used interchangeably.
So unless you’re specifically talking about the brand name or want to get extra technical with potential differences in the formulation, the person you replied to is correct. Concerta and Ritalin LA are both extended release methylphenidate.

It’s absolutely not the same thing. I used to play a lot as a kid (still do) and I have no problem with today’s kids doing the same. But I want them to be able to enjoy games without constantly being manipulated into spending as much money as possible.
And it’s not just about kids either, I think these predatory tactics affect adults too.
It’s not a moral panic, the problem is capitalism.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, these are very personal and intimate experiences and I appreciate it a lot when people like yourself share them to help others! 💜
For me I can even get nervous about getting IBS, and that can make my IBS more likely.
Yep, I do that too, it’s very frustrating.
I do think my IBS is better now too with estrogen and especially because my mental health has improved generally. I suspect that it got worse again recently as a side effect of the ADHD medication I was testing (methylphenidate/Concerta). Can’t know for sure of course since correlation does not imply causation, but it has improved after switching to Elvanse/lisdexamfetamine (still titrating though).

I think it’s a cool idea but the intermission tracks are just so boring to me.

I probably won’t have mine for at least 1-2 years but this is very helpful, thanks! I’ve got my first appointment next week :3
The “bleeding from toilet use” section is bad news for me as an IBS girlie, I should probably work on improving my diet more before the surgery 😬

Funnily enough this seems to be worse for me now that I’m medicated. I used to eat when I couldn’t focus on work or when I was frustrated in general. Now I actually have the energy to do stuff again and I forget to eat way more easily. The meds also reduce my appetite which isn’t helping.

Because you specifically asked about sperm, the effects of HRT are (mostly) reversible in that regard, particularly if you haven’t taken HRT for long.
While this is true I want to reiterate that if you want children it’s best to assume that HRT makes you permanently infertile and take precautions accordingly. And if you don’t want children you should assume it doesn’t affect your fertility and still use contraception.
This way you’ll be safe either way.

I feel like play time per money spent mattered when most people were buying offline games at full price but to me it hasn’t been relevant for a long time. I might pay full price for a game that is incredible for 5-10 hours but a game that is mediocre for 100 hours I wouldn’t even play for free.

Can we have JXL please
wdym you have a routine??
