Whether the “bubble” pops or not, that’s a concern for the marks.

Pretty sure that networks like Lemmy are the primary target facing the heaviest burden.
Age discrimination is garbage… But this is clearly just Reddit catering to its groomer base.
A more important difference is that you can just change instances with Lemmy.

Yes, I’m forced to use Windows at work and that’s part of why I only use Linux in my personal life.
Window is so stupid and annoying. It needs to reboot like twice a day for updates. Not to mention individual apps that need to update in the middle of usage. Also the news/spam and stuff. It’s garbage. I’m the guy who’s constantly telling everybody that we should switch to Linux.
(Also, even though my work laptop is Windows, I do most of my real work connected to a Linux server/IDE.)
There was two years of free migration. Maybe check your email.

Too many people using VSCode. At work on Windows I was using it at work (on Windows) but got disgusted with myself and switched to Kate. On Linux I tried VSCodium but the Flatpak was soooo slow, bloated, and crashy… I’m just sticking with Kate on every OS.

Here’s how I might resolve this supposed dichotomy:
- “AI” doesn’t actually exist.
- You might be using technologies that are called “AI” but there is no actual “intelligence” there. For example, as OP mentions, LLMs are extremely limited and not actually “intelligent”.
- Since “AI” doesn’t actually exist, since there’s no objective test, etc… “AI” can be anything and do anything.
- So at the extremes we get the “AI” God and “AI” Devil
- “AI” God - S/he saves the economy, liberates us from drudgery, creates great art, saves us from China (\s), heralds the singularity, etc.
- “AI” Devil - S/he hallucinates, steals jobs, destroys the environment, is a tool of the MIC, murders artists, is how China will destroy us (\s), wastes of time and resources, is a scam, causes apocalypses, etc.
Since there’s no objective meaning from the start, there’s no coherence or reason behind the wild conclusions are the bottom. When we talk about “AI”, we’re talking about a wide variety of technologies with varying values in various contexts. I think there are some real shitty people/products but also some hopefully useful technologies. So depending on the situation I might have a different opinion.

It actually mattes what shitty “analogy” he uses, because he’s implicitly endorsing prohibition and its ongoing, extreme violence. It’s a typical hegemonic tactic to normalize state violence. Dude is an alumni of the nytimes ofc. This is literally his whole career.

He won the nobel prize for economics and was one of the few sane voices during the great recession.
There is no nobel prize for economics. It’s an even phonier prize made up by bankers. Even if there were an actual nobel, that’s no reason for believing anybody’s opinions far outside their realm of expertise (eg. krugman here).
More importantly krugman has been consistently liberal trash since forever.
