OP, note that Nvidia isn’t as bad on Linux as it used to be.

Adding to your comment, perhaps having 2 separate bootloaders reduces the chances of such breakages.

Could you share laptop specs? Judging by your post any distro should work fine. Can’t go wrong choosing a popular distro like Fedora or Mint.

Vivaldi and privacy shouldn’t even be in the same sentence. They haven’t been caught in any scandals /yet/, but the browser’s nonfree garbage and their reason for keeping it that way comes off as obnoxious imo.

Any Firefox-based browser can be made to do this (I use Zen). This might not be totally bulletproof in this day and age.
