Just watched it. Dunno even know why I even had radarr set up to get it. At first I thought it was some cringey fantasy. Then I realised it was in some kind of alternative reality that was so close to reality that it gave the uncanny valley effect. Then it just went off the rails, lol. Very unusually and entertaining movie, IMO.

Filming took place in California and was shot using VistaVision, making it one of the first films to use the format for principal photography since the 1960s.

Wow did this make a difference, I noticed right away. I consciously thought to myself, as soon as the movie started, that it looked like “a film”.

Yeah, one of 4 films coming out in a two year span having been filmed on Vistavision. It’s an affordable compromise to IMAX. Not as high a quality as IMAX but a fraction of the cost. Cameras are cheaper, the film stock is MUCH cheaper as it’s standard 35mm. Roughly 4 times the resolution of a standard 35mm frame. I got to see it in the theater on a 70mm print and it was great.

The music was really weird. And it had the most boring car chase in cinematic history…

I agree. The tense music did not seem to fit the vibe. Sure it was a tense situation but they also tried to incorporate a lot of humor in the writing and the two felt at odds with each other at times. Plus, that much tense music for that long is trying. I liked the car chase, but agree it could’ve been edited down along with many scenes. It’s a common issue I see in movies these days. I would’ve rather had more origin story than ten minutes of codeword stalemate that turned a fun joke into a painful trial. Don’t get me wrong, loved the movie overall.
