For those who don’t Aadhar is a govt ID card for its citizens that doesn’t do shit, is unsecured like shit, and doesn’t even prove anything about you in legal terms.
Well, that’s certainly dystopian.
The system will also use something called “proof of presence” that will authenticate a user through face scan without connecting to UIDAI servers. How this will work in reality is something that will be clear only once the new system rolls out and people start using it.
Well that sounds like a privacy nightmare.
Cherry on top, the country is extremely tech illiterate and any form of protest will directly land you in prison on the grounds of terrorism w/o a fair trial.

This article is so bad, take it with a pinch of salt. There’s a very long history of bogus announcements around Aadhaar, governments (remember it was introduced by Congress in the name of anti-corruption) pushing it down the throat of people despite Supreme Court rulings that it cannot be compulsory.
But in India maybe more than in most places, so many people seem to believe this is a good thing to comply to such stupid use of the worst technologies, as long as the can showcase their shiny latest smartphones.

I learnt about Aadhaar here about a month ago and was appalled at this technological nightmare, which (of course!) fucks over the poor and disadvantaged the most, with shit like “you cannot get an Aadhaar because you don’t have one”. I didn’t realize that this abomination could be cranked up to eleven too!
My suspicion is that this will lead to an “official” india and a “inofficial” one, with the inofficial part being ruled by gangs and crime syndicates with all the bullshit that comes with that. (if it isnt that way currently, i don’t know too much about it)
