    are interpreters better than subtitles? I mean assuming deaf people are not there in real life. btw “Donald trump interpreter” sounds like one of the worst/hardest jobs ever.

      Do you think it would be just a bunch of incoherent rants? A dedicated Trump sign language interpreter could just be doing the Nazi salute the entire time and be the same result.

      Subtitles are better for the hard of hearing and non fluent.

      It depends on the person. For Deaf people raised with Deaf community sign language is often their native language and it’s far more effective at conveying emotions and nuance than subtitles.

      But it’s also worth noting that in live performances subtitles are much slower than interpreters. Terps are able to keep up with even high speed rappers, while subtitles are usually like a second or more behind.

      When it comes to who makes him come off worse, it’s probably actually the subtitles. They just say what words he said (adding tone would slow them further). Terps keep up and can give tone
