Well I goofed up. I had gotten two strains with similar names from my local dispensary that sounded nice and were quite potent. One was very ideal. Using it in my dry herb vape gave me 3 sessions at progressively higher temps, very stoned but euphoric and buzzed.
The other felt similar at first but is juuuust enough over my potency limit that I find I get quite anxious and start worrying about any small feeling I get in my body. Unpleasant.
I saw they were having a 40% off sale and picked up a quarter of my new preferred strain annnnd I got it backwards!
Oh well, lesson learned. I have plenty of other grass but now I got all this stuff I kinda don’t prefer! I was thinking of seeing if any of my stoner buddies wanna do a swap, but it occurred to me that I could also transform it some way and I didn’t know if the cooking process would change the effects enough to make it palatable.
SO, I ask y’all. What’s a good use for weed that’s just a lil too potent? Is there any altering it to make it useful? Or should I just trade it?
You could mix it with cbd weed, it’s much cheaper, it will lower the thc content, and cbd should lower the anxiety.
Came here to say the same. Some of the stronger ones, when I’ve mixed with CBD flower, end up being amazing.
Baking with it will, for sure, change how the weed makes you feel. The only problem is fresh bud needs to be decarboxylated before baking - an extra step you don’t have to do with the bud you have already vaped and are saving for making butter; but, if you’re willing to work for it, it will be a whole new experience. Thanks! I made a good number of edibles in the past, but it was in an era where the weed you got was the weed you had, so there was never any thought to trying to discern a difference in effects. Also, weed was, on the whole, about 10% less potent THC-wise, though we had no way of knowing for sure. We would generally save up shitty bags of shake, seeds and stems, sort through it, wait for a 2 day period where the whole house could reek of grass, decarb it, then start our project.
I would usually make a butter then do something overly complex with it, like a pannetone or mini croissants, or something very butter forward, like Russian Tea(HC) Cakes. I might avoid a butter forward good this time, though, or use it sparing like, like including it in the crust for cupcake sized tarts.
Maybe determining potency is easier in baked goods now since I have some form of idea of the strength (27% THC, says the label). I’m not quite sure how the math works, especially after working it into a fat, but if I could get this to be 15mg per good, that seems ideal, as the bfs 10mg gummies are nice, but I always feel I want juuuust a bit more.
You mentioned having plenty of other weed. Why not keep it simple and mix the stuff that’s too strong for your taste with something a little underwhelming or known to be a bit less potent? If the problem is just the THC content then reducing the amount being vaped or mixing it with something else should bring you back down to a more comfortable level.

Tried that, mix of changing temps and session lengths. Less vape or lower temp just results in “not high and very mildly anxious”. It’s the first time I’ve had such an experience since like I started smoking two decades ago.
Very weird. I’m guessing the THC:CBD ratio is the cause.
If that’s the case, I doubt making butter out of it will change anything, but I’m not qualified to say for sure. Although you could mix it up with CBD weed to balance it out. Try it out in a vape first to find the right ratio.
